Job summary

The Prince George’s County Office of Central Services is seeking a skilled Stationary Engineer I/II (Building Engineer 1A) to inspect, repair, and operate environmental systems across county facilities. The position requires licensing and a willingness to handle emergency calls as needed.

Bound by MOSH/OSHA standards, you will maintain heating, cooling and ventilation systems and assist with documentation and coordination with vendors.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D required.
• Six months of maintenance, repair, installation of heating, cooling, and ventilation systems.
• Third (3rd) Class Stationary Engineer’s License required.
• Valid Class C driver’s license with no more than six points.
• Equivalent combination of education, experience and training may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and adjust heating, cooling, and ventilation systems for proper operation.
• Perform preventive maintenance on mechanical and non‑mechanical systems in county buildings.
• Assist shop and contract personnel with work at assigned facilities.
• Maintain safety practices and comply with MOSH/OSHA standards.
• Document daily performance and system adjustments.
