Job summary

ECS Group of Companies, a Pittsburgh-based building science and infrastructure consultant, seeks a Building Enclosure Project Associate to support field investigations, testing, analysis, and reporting. You will work with senior staff on multidisciplinary teams to evaluate envelope performance, support construction quality, and deliver practical client solutions.

Ideal candidates bring 2+ years in enclosure consulting, strong communication skills, and familiarity with codes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil, Structural, Architectural Engineering, or Architecture (NCARB).
• 2+ years of related experience with building enclosure consulting, including field investigations, testing, commissioning (BECx), design review, or forensic assessments.
• Licensure or certifications preferred: PE, RA, IIBEC (RRC, RWC, REWC, RBEC, CBECxP) and UW–Madison certifications (BECxP, CxA+BE).

Responsibilities

• Perform building science & infrastructure testing, inspections, and consulting services.
• Conduct site observations of roofing and building enclosure systems.
• Interpret drawings; assist with CAD work when needed.
• Perform enclosure testing and assist with test plans.
• Interpret test results and recommend corrective actions.
• Assist with forensic assessments, commissioning, and enclosure investigations.
• Assist with design reviews and repair design for envelope components.
• Maintain familiarity with IBC, ASHRAE, ASTM, and CSI codes.
