AECOM in the United States is seeking a Transit Design Manager (BRT) to lead multidisciplinary teams on Bus Rapid Transit projects, reporting to the US Mid-Atlantic Region Transportation Business Line. This hybrid role requires 2-3 days in the office and offers opportunities to work on national transit projects.

The position emphasizes project leadership, design of BRT facilities, and collaboration with engineers and planners to deliver safe, efficient transit solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Professional Engineering license.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD/Civil 3D or Microstation/Power InRoads.
  • Roadway design experience.
  • BRT and/or LRT design experience.
  • US Citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead BRT project design as team/discipline lead; coordinate with team; support business development.
  • Prepare engineering calculations and drawings for BRT infrastructure.
  • Review multimodal street design.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary design reviews.
  • Develop construction cost estimates and technical effort estimates.
  • Prepare PS&E package components.
  • Write technical specification sections.
  • Conduct QC of calculations/drawings.
  • Contribute to budget and schedule planning.
  • Mentor entry-level engineers and coordinate tasks.
  • Work independently to complete main design elements.
