Job summary

Mediacom Communications is hiring a Broadband Specialist I (Field Technician) to install cable TV and broadband services. You will operate a company vehicle, visit customer homes, and perform a range of installation and service tasks while representing Mediacom daily.

You will learn and perform activities from installations, changes of service, outlet additions, to disconnects, with safety and FCC compliance at the forefront; training is provided with opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• No experience required.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
• General level of mechanical and consumer devices knowledge
• Ability to interact and communicate with customers and co-workers.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions and at various heights.
• Ability to work flexible work hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.

Responsibilities

• Make customer drop installations (exterior and interior) from tap to antenna terminals.
• Perform new connects, reconnects, requested and non-pay disconnects; add outlets; install and/or remove converters; perform upgrades and downgrades of service.
• Analyze picture quality and judges’ acceptability of picture delivered following installation of cable service.
• Read signal levels through field strength meter; adjust levels in installation problems; install connectors on drop cable; maintain proper clearances.
