Job summary

Mediacom Communications is seeking a Broadband Specialist I (Field Technician) to install cable TV and broadband in customer homes. You will drive a company van, perform installations, service changes, and handle outlet additions while delivering a positive customer experience.

The role requires basic mechanical knowledge, strong communication with customers and coworkers, and flexibility for after-hours work. Training and benefits are provided as part of joining Mediacom’s growing team.

Qualifications

• No experience required.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license: satisfactory driving record.
• General level of mechanical and consumer devices knowledge.
• Ability to interact and communicate with customers and co-workers.
• Ability to work in high or tight spaces.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions and at various heights.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Make customer drop installations (exterior and interior) complete from tap to antenna terminals on customer equipment in both single and multiple unit dwellings.
• Perform new connects, reconnects, requested and non-pay disconnects; add outlets; install/remove converters; upgrades/downgrades.
• Analyze picture quality and judge acceptability of picture after installation.
• Work with connectors, fasteners and wire using hand tools.
• Use customary CATV hand and power tools in job duties.
• Complete paperwork functions as prescribed by system management.
• Read signal levels with field strength meter; adjust levels; install tap-off devices.
• Climb poles and ladders; lift up to 100 lbs; work in confined spaces.
• Read drop system layouts from blueprints; inform customers of FCC rules.
• Drive company vehicles; perform vehicle upkeep.
• Generate revenue through sales of product options and promotions.
• Perform other duties and support teammates as directed.
• Ensure installations comply with codes and safe work practices.
