Job summary

NTH Consultants, Ltd. in Michigan is seeking an experienced Structural/Geotechnical Engineer to lead design, analysis, and documentation for infrastructure projects.

You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, perform bridge design and geotechnical analyses, and prepare drawings and specifications in accordance with industry standards. The ideal candidate holds a BS in Civil Engineering with a structural or geotechnical emphasis, a professional license, and 7+ years of related experience.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering with emphasis on Structural or Geotechnical Engineering from a 4-year accredited college.
• Professional registration required.
• 7+ years of demonstrated experience in Structural or Geo-Structural Engineering.
• Experience in project planning, budgeting and task management to ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Extensive background in structural engineering, with bridge design, structural analysis, and bridge rehabilitation for transportation infrastructure in Michigan. Knowledge of codes and standards; soil-structure interaction; analysis/design for aboveground/underground structures.
• Experience with dams and shoreline structures is desirable.
• Proficient in using structural and geotechnical analysis/design software(s).
• Experience in preparing and reviewing engineering evaluation reports, specifications, and drawings.
• Must be able to lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs.
• Must hold a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel in Michigan.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural and geotechnical analysis, design, and documentation for projects involving interdisciplinary teams.
• Develop or review project-specific design and calculation packages, including construction cost estimates.
• Supervise or perform monitoring of construction operations, including structural rehabilitation and earthwork / excavation support installations and preparing engineering field reports.
• Prepare technical proposals and fee estimates.
