Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Structural Engineer - Bridge Inspection Team Leader to join our Bridge & Infrastructure Inspection Team in Newark or Morristown, New Jersey. This role blends field work (50%) with office activities (50%), and requires leadership of junior engineers while delivering inspections for bridges, tunnels, and related infrastructure.

The candidate will prepare load ratings, develop plans using MicroStation/AutoCAD, and collaborate across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• NCBI certification through FHWA-approved bridge inspection training.
• 3+ years of experience in bridge/tunnel/ancillary inspection or related work.
• NHI Course 130055 Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges (and 130053 Refresher if required).
• New Jersey PE license or ability to obtain promptly.
• Proficient knowledge of structural engineering principles and design/build.
• Strong interest in structures and transportation fields and growth in WSP projects.
• Ability to perform field work including heights, adverse conditions, night work, and travel.

Responsibilities

• Lead Bridge & Infrastructure Inspection Team on a variety of projects.
• Guide and train junior engineers; provide leadership to project teams.
• Perform professional structural engineering work and inspections.
• Assist in preparing Bridge & Tunnel Load Ratings and project documents.
• Develop plans/sketches using MicroStation, Visio, AutoCAD.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, planners, and specialists on multiple projects.
• Support cost proposals, scope of work documents, and project documentation.
