Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation’s Holly Hill Bridge Maintenance Unit is seeking a Bridge Crew Member to support the construction, repair and preservation of bridges. You will perform manual labor and operate a range of tools and small equipment to complete maintenance tasks in and around water and traffic zones.

You may assist with CDL vehicle operation, traffic control setup and emergency weather operations, including potential extended shifts.

Qualifications

• No minimum training or experience requirements for this classification.
• A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
• Requires attainment of a Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties related to the construction, repair and preservation of bridges using proper techniques.
• Operate small equipment, powered tools and hand tools to perform maintenance tasks.
• Assist in traffic control setup and act as a flagger to guide traffic in work zones.
• Assist in emergency and inclement weather operations, including extended hours or 12-hour shifts.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
