Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation seeks a Bridge Crew Member for the Holly Hill Bridge Maintenance Unit. The role involves performing manual maintenance and preservation tasks on bridges, including using power tools and hand tools, working near water, and operating CDL vehicles in accordance with state policies.

You will assist with traffic control, act as a flagger, participate in emergency and inclement weather operations (including possible 12-hour shifts), and help identify

Qualifications

No minimum training or experience required for this classification.
Requires attainment of a Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six months of placement.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varied outdoor environments.

Responsibilities

Perform manual labor related to bridge construction, repair and preservation.
Operate small equipment, powered tools, and hand tools to perform maintenance tasks.
Assist in operation of CDL vehicles in accordance with State Fleet policies.
Inspect and operate motorized vehicles and equipment; report needed repairs.
Assist with placement of traffic control devices and act as a flagger to direct traffic in work zones.
Participate in emergency and inclement weather operations, including extended hours or 12-hour shifts.
