Job summary

The City of New York is seeking an Associate Project Manager I to join the Fabrication Engineering Unit within Quality Assurance / Bureau of Engineering Review and Support. You will monitor off-site inspections for acceptance and verify fabrication of bridge components. Under general supervision, you will oversee inspection agencies, review drawings and procedures, and evaluate non-destructive testing results.

Travel to fabrication plants across the U.S. and Canada is required.

Qualifications

• One year of full-time supervisory or project management experience on large engineering/construction projects.
• Experience supervising inspectors or inspection agencies.
• Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form.
• Knowledge of fabrication and inspection standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and coordinate off-site inspections for acceptance and verification of fabricated bridge components.
• Oversee inspection agencies during their inspection assignments.
• Review shop drawings, weld procedures, fabrication and repair procedures.
• Evaluate non-destructive testing procedures and results.
• Apply AWS Structural Steel, NYSSCM, NYSPCCM, ASME and ASTM standards.
• Travel to fabrication plants in the U.S. and Canada as required.
