Job summary

City of New York's Department of Transportation, Division of Bridges, seeks an Assistant Civil Engineer to review design drawings and calculations for bridges and retaining walls, and to assess potential impacts of nearby construction.

Under supervision, you will conduct field inspections, review consultant invoices, and perform related engineering review tasks across major NYC bridge projects. 35‑hour work week with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in civil engineering and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in civil engineering work
• A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and a Master's degree from an accredited college in civil engineering

Responsibilities

• Review City-let bridge design drawings and calculations at various design/construction phases
• Review private development projects and other agencies' projects near City-owned bridges
• Perform field inspections of bridge structures and retaining walls
• Review invoices prepared by consultants and assist with other engineering review duties if assigned
