Job summary

WSP is seeking a Lead Bridge Engineer, Structural Engineering, to join our Herndon, VA team. You will lead complex bridge design projects, guide multi-disciplinary teams, and ensure compliance with standards.

This role emphasizes advanced structural analysis, design optimization, and collaboration with clients and regulators. Ideal candidates hold a PE license and 7–10 years of relevant experience, with proficiency in major structural software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in Structural or Civil Engineering.
• 7–10 years of post-education experience in structural/civil design.
• Professional engineer license required.
• Strong knowledge of structural and civil design principles and standards.
• Experience with infrastructure rehab, new design, and construction projects.
• Familiarity with sustainability concepts and regulatory compliance.
• Proven ability to coordinate with subcontractors and lead teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level structural engineering guidance for multi-site projects.
• Develop and review design plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Coordinate with owners, disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients.
• Prepare technical reports, calculations, and presentations.
• Involve in project inception through construction and operation phases.
• Lead cross-functional teams and manage budgets, hours, and materials.
• Ensure compliance with codes, regulations, and QA/QC standards.
• Stay current on engineering techniques and best practices.
