Job summary

WSP is seeking a Lead Bridge Engineer in Herndon, VA to advance multi-site bridge projects within the Mid-Atlantic South District Transportation Team. You will guide design and construction, perform complex analyses, and ensure safety, quality, and regulatory compliance across programs.

The role requires a PE license, 7–10 years of relevant experience, and strong leadership and technical writing skills. A comprehensive benefits package accompanies the position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering is required.
• 7–10 years of post-education experience in engineering with design exposure.
• Professional engineer license is required.
• Strong knowledge of infrastructure planning, design, and construction management.
• Experience with sustainability practices and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance for design, analysis, and construction of bridges and related infra.
• Develop plans, specifications, and cost estimates for projects.
• Manage design and construction work across multiple projects and teams.
• Coordinate with owners, sub-consultants, and clients; ensure QA/QC.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for stakeholders.
• Lead cross-functional teams and supervise junior staff as needed.
• Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
