Job summary

Stantec's New York City office is seeking a highly motivated Bridge Design Engineer to support our growing New York Bridge and Transportation practice on large infrastructure design projects. You will work under the supervision of a Senior Bridge Engineer to deliver AASHTO-based bridge design and related structures.

The role requires a PE license in NY (or ability to obtain), experience with CSI Bridge, LARSA, OpenBridge and related tools, and the ability to lead design and construction document

Qualifications

• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in NY and/or NJ or ability to obtain
• Proficient in CSI Bridge, LARSA, OpenBridge and AutoCAD/Microstation
• Strong knowledge of NYSDOT and local agency design standards
• Experience delivering multi-span steel/concrete bridge projects
• Ability to supervise and mentor junior engineers and CAD designers
• Ability to produce design calculations, drawings and construction documents
• Experience with design-build and design/bid/build projects
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with NYSDOT, NYCDOT, MTA, PANYNJ is preferred
• Hybrid work environment with three days per week in-office

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed structural analyses and load rating per AASHTO LRFD
• Develop design criteria, plans, specs and quantities
• Prepare steel and concrete design calculations and quantity take-offs
• Mentor junior engineers and CAD designers
• Lead preparation of design and construction documents per NYSDOT standards
• Resolve technical problems using professional judgment
• Review drawings and field changes and RFIs
• Support design-build pursuits with technical/concept development
• Coordinate with highway, traffic and geotechnical teams
