Job summary

Stantec’s New York City office is seeking a Bridge Design Engineer to support growth in the New York Bridge and Transportation practice. You will work under a Senior Bridge Engineer on design of bridges, highway interchanges, roadway reconstructions, and public spaces, ensuring AASHTO LRFD compliance.

Responsibilities include analyses, design deliverables, and leading junior engineers. A PE license in NY (or ability to obtain) and experience with NYSDOT/NYCDOT are preferred; hybrid work with a

Qualifications

• Licensed or ability to obtain the Professional Engineer license in NY/NJ.
• Strong experience with AASHTO LRFD bridge design and design-build projects.
• Experience with NYSDOT, NYCDOT, MTA, PANYNJ is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed structural analyses, including finite element modeling and load rating.
• Develop design deliverables and calculations for various projects.
• Prepare and review design calculations, quantity take-offs, and technical reports.
• Supervise and mentor junior bridge engineers and CAD designers.
• Lead preparation of design and construction documents per NYSDOT standards.
• Assist in solving complex technical problems and make independent decisions.
• Review show drawings, supplier submittals, RFIs, and field-design changes.
• Support design‑build pursuits and development of technical concepts.
• Coordinate with highway, traffic, and geotechnical disciplines.
