Job summary

NV5 (NYSE: TIC) seeks an experienced Project Engineer (Bridges) to lead and perform design and analysis for New York infrastructure projects from our New York, NY office. The role emphasizes mentoring junior staff and coordinating across geographies to deliver PS&E packages.

The candidate will apply STAAD, InRoads, LARS, LEAP, and other tools, ensuring compliance with NYSDOT/NYCDOT standards while managing budgets and schedules.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering (M.S. a plus).
• EIT required.
• PE license preferred (but not required) or ability to obtain within 1 year after starting.
• 4–8 years of experience as a bridge engineer, including design, plan preparation, structural analysis, design, quantity calculation, and construction support services.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor junior staff (1+ engineers) on technical design and project tasks.
• Lead the planning, administration, and design of structural bridge projects, ensuring compliance with state and federal standards.
• Conduct detailed structural analysis and design for various bridge projects.
• Develop and review engineering calculations for reinforced and prestressed concrete, steel structures, and other materials.
• Prepare comprehensive engineering reports, plans, specifications, and estimates.
• Utilize engineering software packages such as STAAD, PennDOT ABLRFD, L-Pile, and MathCAD for project delivery.
• Ensure timely delivery of PS&E contract documents, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams across various geographic locations.
• Conduct quality control and assurance activities to maintain high standards in project execution.
• Develop quantities and cost estimates, ensuring projects stay within budget.
• Utilize CADD to develop detailed bridge plans and specifications.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, code requirements, and client objectives.
• Conduct/lead field work oversight, including surveys, data collection, construction observation, and support (RFIs, submittals, change orders)
