Job summary

Thimble Alterations is seeking an experienced independent contractor to edit and fit wedding gowns, bridesmaid dresses, and mother-of-the-bride/groom outfits with meticulous hems, bustles, bodices, and zippers.

You will handle structured bridal gowns, take precise measurements during fittings, and communicate timelines clearly to clients, while delivering high-quality finishes and keeping an organized workspace for fittings.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with bridal and/or women's formalwear alterations.
• Strong garment construction knowledge and precision measuring.
• Machine and hand sewing proficiency.
• Professional communication and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Alter wedding gowns, bridesmaid dresses, and mother-of-the-bride/groom dresses (hemming, bustle, bodice/waist, straps, cups, zippers).
• Work with structured bridal gowns (layers, lace, beading, linings, boning/tulle).
• Conduct fittings, take precise measurements, communicate timelines clearly.
• Deliver high-quality finishing and maintain an organized workspace suitable for fittings.
• We also receive requests for prom dresses, evening gowns, cocktail dresses, suits, and other formalwear.
