Job summary

Thimble Alterations in the United States is seeking an experienced independent contractor to alter bridal and formalwear from home. You will handle wedding gowns, bridesmaid and mother-of-the-bride/groom dresses, with hemming, bustles, bodice adjustments, zippers, and more.

You'll perform precise measurements, conduct fittings, communicate timelines clearly, and deliver high-quality finishing while keeping an organized workspace for client fittings.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with bridal and/or women's formalwear alterations.
• Strong garment construction knowledge + precision measuring.
• Machine + hand sewing proficiency.
• Professional communication and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Alter wedding gowns, bridesmaid dresses, and mother-of-the-bride/groom dresses (hemming, bustle, bodice/waist, straps, cups, zippers)
• Work with structured bridal gowns (multiple layers, lace, beading, linings, boning/tulle)
• Conduct fittings, take precise measurements, and communicate timelines clearly
• Deliver high-quality finishing and maintain an organized workspace suitable for fittings
• We also receive requests for prom dresses, evening gowns, cocktail dresses, suits, and other formalwear
