Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection in the United States is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPA) at entry and mid-level. The role offers strong federal benefits, with incentives totaling up to $50,000 and opportunities across numerous duty locations nationwide.

BPAs start at the GL-5/GL-7 grades with potential promotion to GS-12. Base pay ranges from $51,632 to $124,717 per year, plus health, retirement, and other comprehensive benefits. Training at the Border Patrol Academy is provided.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience demonstrating leadership and composure.
• Bachelor's degree or successful completion of a four-year course of study.
• Combination of experience and education may qualify.
• Eligibility to meet GL-5/GL-7/GL-9/GS-11 requirements is described in the notice.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspect documents.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance.
• Interpret tracks and evidence of illegal entry and examine records and documents.
• Perform farm, building, traffic, city, and transportation checks during patrols.
• Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using diverse assets.
