Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPAs) across the United States. These full-time roles include base pay commensurate with GL/GS levels, federal benefits, and potential recruitment/retention incentives.

Training at the Border Patrol Academy is provided with opportunities for advancement. Selected BPAs may qualify for up to $20,000 in recruitment incentives and up to $30,000 in retention incentives, with priority locations listed in the announcement.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience demonstrating ability to take charge, make sound decisions, and remain calm under stress.
• One year of specialized work experience showing ability to handle firearms, law enforcement duties, and related tasks.
• Border Patrol qualification includes knowledge of immigration laws and ability to interact with the public.

Responsibilities

• Detect individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspect documents.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance and other methods.
• Interpret tracks and physical evidence of illegal entry and contraband; perform various patrol checks and duties.
• Patrol borders and waterways using diverse assets to fulfill CBP mission.
