Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection seeks Border Patrol Agents (BPA) in the United States.

Across diverse duty locations nationwide, BPAs perform border patrol, document checks, and enforcement actions, with training at the Border Patrol Academy and opportunities for advancement to GS-12.

Qualifications

• One (1) year of general work experience demonstrating problem solving and composure in stressful situations.
• A bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study in any field.
• A combination of general work experience and college education may qualify.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question individuals suspected of immigration and customs violations and inspect documents.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance tools.
• Patrol borders and coastal waterways using various assets to support CBP mission.
• Perform farm, building, traffic, city, and transportation checks as assigned.
• Interpret tracks and physical evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
