Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seeks Border Patrol Agents to join a large federal law enforcement team. The position offers competitive base pay, solid federal benefits, and career stability in a dynamic border security mission.

Selected BPAs begin at the GL-5/7/9/11 grades with opportunities for advancement; recruitment incentives up to $20,000 and retention awards may apply, with duty locations nationwide, including Texas.

Qualifications

• Citizenship: You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this position.
• Residency: Primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years may be required.
• Age restrictions apply under DHS rules for law enforcement retirement provisions.
• Formal training at the Border Patrol Academy in Artesia, NM is required after hire.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question individuals suspected of immigration and customs violations and inspect documents.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance.
• Interpret tracks, marks, and physical evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Perform farm, building, traffic, city, and transportation checks.
• Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using varied government assets.
