Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is urgently hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPA) for full-time career paths. Qualified candidates may enter at GL-5, GL-7, GL-9 or GS-11 levels with avenues for advancement to GS-12.

Base pay ranges from $51,632 to $124,717 yearly, plus comprehensive federal benefits including health and retirement plans. Incentives include recruitment and retention programs up to $30,000, with an additional $10,000 for prioritized locations.

Qualifications

• GL-5: One year of general work experience or a bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• GL-7: One year of specialized work experience and related education options.
• GL-9/GS-11: Specialized experience with law enforcement duties and tools.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspecting documents.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders.
• Interpreting and following tracks and evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Performing farm, building, traffic, and transportation checks and city patrols.
• Patrolling the international boundary and coastal waterways using various assets.
