Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seeks Border Patrol Agents (BPA) to safeguard the United States by preventing illicit entry while facilitating lawful travel and trade. This is a full-time, entry- to mid-level career opportunity in federal law enforcement with competitive base pay and comprehensive benefits.

Salary ranges from $51,632 to $124,717 annually depending on grade (GL-5/7/9 or GS-11). Recruitment incentives up to $20,000 and retention incentives up to $30,000 may be offered,

Qualifications

• Experience: One year of general work experience demonstrating decision-making under stress; ability to learn regulations and procedures.
• Education: A bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study in any field from an accredited college or university.
• Combination: A combination of general work experience AND college education may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question individuals suspected of immigration and customs violations; inspect documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Prevent undocumented noncitizens and smugglers by patrolling borders and using surveillance equipment.
• Patrol the international boundary and coastal waterways using diverse assets (vehicles, horses, vessels, ATVs, etc.).
