Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPA) in full-time, entry- and mid-level career postings across the United States. Base pay varies by grade (GL-5 to GS-11) with promotion potential to GS-12, plus generous federal benefits and leave.

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or relevant work/education combinations. Selected candidates may receive recruitment and retention incentives up to $50,000 total depending on location and offer terms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Combination of general work experience AND successfully completed college education; this will be calculated using your resume and transcripts.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspecting documents.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented individuals and smugglers near borders using surveillance and night-vision gear.
• Interpreting tracks and evidence of illegal entry or contraband; performing farm/building/traffic/transport checks.
