Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPA) at the GL-5, GL-7, GL-9, or GS-11 levels with potential for GS-12. Positions offer wage scales, federal benefits, and opportunities for recruitment and retention incentives across prioritized locations in the United States.

Entry and mid-level BPA roles may require education or related public safety experience. Base pay ranges from $51,632 to $124,717 annually with health, retirement, and leave benefits.

Qualifications

One year of general work experience or education in public safety, security, police or law enforcement
Bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree
Combination of experience and education may qualify you for the role

Responsibilities

Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspecting documents
Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders
Interpreting tracks, marks and other evidence of illegal entry or contraband
Performing farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, city patrols, and transportation checks
Patrolling the international boundary and coastal waterways using various assets
