U.S. Customs and Border Protection is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPA) across entry to mid-level career tracks. The role offers strong base pay, federal benefits, and retention incentives.

Duty locations span nationwide, with a pathway from GL-5 up to GS-11/12 depending on experience and education. Selected BPAs may receive recruitment incentives up to $20,000 and retention incentives up to $30,000, with comprehensive health, dental, leave and Thrift Savings Plan benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree.
• One year of general work experience demonstrating leadership, decision-making and composure under stress (for GL-5).
• Education substitution available: bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• Combination of experience and education may be accepted.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspecting documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented individuals and smugglers near borders using surveillance and night-vision gear.
• Interpreting tracks, marks, and other evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Patrolling borders by land, vehicle, boat, or other assets to support the CBP mission.
