Recruitment incentives up to $20,000 and retention incentives up to $30,000 are available; duty locations across the United States. BPAs patrol borders, inspect documents, deter illicit entry, and use a range of assets to protect the nation.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience demonstrating ability to take charge, make sound decisions, and stay calm in stressful situations.
• Bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree.
• Combination of general work experience and education may satisfy qualifications for: GL-5, GL-7, GL-9, or GS-11 levels.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspect documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers using surveillance, including night operations.
• Interpret tracks and other evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Perform farm, building, traffic, city, and transportation checks.
• Patrol international borders and coastal waterways using a variety of assets.
