Job summary

Barnes & Noble College is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support the Store or General Manager in daily operations of the bookstore. You will supervise staff, engage customers, and help meet sales goals while delivering outstanding service in a campus bookstore environment.

The role emphasizes cash handling, team development, and problem solving, with responsibilities spanning floor presence, scheduling, and ensuring an engaging customer experience across departments.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience in a retail setting.
• 1+ year supervisory experience preferred or a graduate of the Best Seller Program.
• Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills needed.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Support all store operations and departments in partnership with the Store Manager or General Manager.
• Supervise employees and direct work activities to ensure delivery of services, sales and customer service.
• Maintain a presence on the sales floor to greet customers and assist with purchases.
• Address customer and employee issues promptly and respectfully.
• Assist with hiring and training new employees for the sales floor or other departments.
