Job summary

Barnes & Noble College is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support the Store or General Manager in the daily operation of our bookstore. You will supervise employees and tasks, work directly with customers, and play an instrumental role in carrying out the directives of the manager.

Cash handling, customer service, team building, and problem solving are essential skills that will be used on a daily basis.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years in a retail setting.
• 1+ year supervisory experience preferred.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Familiarity with financial and customer service principles.
• Basic reading, writing, and accounting skills.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Support store operations and departments with the Store Manager.
• Direct work activities to ensure delivery of services and sales.
• Maintain a presence on the sales floor to greet customers and assist with purchases.
• Assist with hiring, training, and development of team.
• Help meet or exceed sales goals and identify business opportunities.
