Barnes & Noble College is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support daily store operations and supervise staff, ensuring excellent customer service and sales performance.

You will work with the Store Manager to direct departments, train team members, and maintain a welcoming, productive sales floor. The role emphasizes cash handling, problem solving, and store profitability in a campus retail setting.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience in a retail setting.
• 1+ year supervisory experience preferred or a graduate of the Best Seller Program.
• High school diploma/GED preferred.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Familiarity with financial and customer service principles.
• Basic reading, writing and accounting skills required.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills needed.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Support all store operations and departments in partnership with the Store Manager or General Manager.
• Involve in purchasing for one or more departments, directing operational functions, and scheduling.
• Deliver outstanding customer service to the academic and co-curricular community while helping the store meet or exceed sales goals.
• Direct, train, and counsel our team to create excitement around products and initiatives.
• Motivate the team to create customer experiences that foster loyalty and measurable results.
