Job summary

H&R Block is seeking an experienced bookkeeper to deliver comprehensive bookkeeping, payroll, and client service. You’ll post transactions, reconcile accounts, and generate financial statements while supporting client retention and growth opportunities.

The role requires 1–3 years of bookkeeping experience, GAAP knowledge, and ability to obtain required certifications. Xero experience preferred, with strong organization and discretion.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• National bookkeeping and payroll certifications from the National Bookkeeping Association, or ability to obtain them.
• 1–3 years of bookkeeping experience.
• Knowledge of bookkeeping practices and GAAP.

Responsibilities

• Post financial transactions into subsidiary books and general ledgers.
• Reconcile and balance accounts.
• Generate and analyze financial statements.
• Prepare and process payroll.
• Generate 1099s and W2s and prepare tax statements.
• Communicate with clients, suppliers, vendors and banking contacts.
