Job summary

A&M Tool & Design in Massachusetts seeks a full-time Bookkeeper to maintain accounting records in a fast-paced precision manufacturing environment serving aerospace, defense, medical, and commercial customers.

You will own the full cycle, keep the books current, accurate, and audit-ready, and use AI tools to cut manual work. Training is provided for other areas while you take ownership of core accounting duties.

Qualifications

• A degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business, or 3+ years of hands-on AP/AR and GL experience.
• Experience with double-entry accounting, GL, and month-end close.
• Strong Excel and ERP data skills; JobBOSS experience a plus.
• Experience using AI tools in a work setting.
• Manufacturing or job shop background preferred.
• Accuracy under deadline pressure; strong communication and organization.

Responsibilities

• Own the full accounts receivable cycle, including invoicing, daily cash application, and collections.
• Own the full accounts payable cycle, including three‑way match, weekly check and ACH runs, and vendor statement reconciliation.
• Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaid amortization, and reclassifications.
• Reconcile cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and other assigned balance sheet accounts monthly.
• Support month-end and year-end close and prepare supporting schedules for our outside accountants.
• Maintain customer and vendor master data, including credit limits, payment terms, W‑9 forms, and certificates of insurance.
• Maintain documentation and internal controls sufficient to support financial, customer, and registrar audits.
• Serve as a cross-trained backup for weekly payroll processing.
• Apply AI and data tools to reduce manual handling, shorten the close, and accelerate cash collection.
• Know and follow all A&M Tool & Design employee health and safety rules.

This is a hands‑on role for someone who wants to own the whole cycle. We are looking for a Bookkeeper who keeps the books current, accurate, and audit ready without being asked, who takes ownership when something is difficult, and who is comfortable using AI tools to cut manual work out of the process. We can train a lot of the rest.

Experience and Qualifications

• A degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business, or 3+ years of hands‑on accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger experience.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of double‑entry accounting, the general ledger, and the month‑end close.
• Strong Excel and ERP data skills; JobBOSS experience a plus.
• Practical experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Copilot, or Claude in a work setting.
• Manufacturing or job shop background preferred.
• Accuracy that holds up under deadline pressure.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
