Job summary

Blue Water Thinking in Des Moines, IA is seeking a skilled Biomedical Equipment Technician to ensure reliability, safety and performance of medical devices at the VA. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, inspections, and device security work, including Cerner integration and CMMS recordkeeping.

The ideal candidate has a technical background and at least five years’ hospital equipment maintenance experience, with familiarity with regulatory standards and testing equipment.

Qualifications

• Two-year associate degree or higher in an applied science or equivalent military training.
• Five years of hospital or healthcare experience in medical equipment maintenance (Level III).
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and testing equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical literature, schematics, and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on a wide range of medical equipment to ensure safety and reliability.
• Diagnose and repair malfunctions following manufacturer guidelines and specs.
• Carry out incoming inspections to verify safety and functionality.
• Support medical device security and Cerner EHR integration efforts.
• Install, calibrate, and configure equipment per manufacturer instructions.
• Maintain records using CMMS and provide staff training on equipment use.
