Job summary

Blue Water Thinking in Hot Springs, SD is seeking a Biomedical Equipment Technician to ensure reliability, safety and proper functioning of medical devices at the VA.

The role covers preventive and corrective maintenance, device security, installations, safety inspections, EHR integration, and staff training, with a focus on patient care.

Preferred candidates have five years hospital experience, an associate degree, and ability to obtain a public trust clearance; vaccination proof is required.

Qualifications

• Two-year associate degree or higher in an applied science or equivalent training.
• Five years hospital or healthcare experience performing medical equipment maintenance.
• Understanding of regulatory agencies’ requirements and international standards.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical literature, schematics and drawings.
• Familiarity with the setup and application of test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on a diverse range of medical equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
• Diagnose and repair malfunctions in medical devices per manufacturer specifications.
• Install, calibrate and configure medical equipment according to manufacturer instructions.
• Collaborate with IT for medical device cybersecurity and data protection.
• Maintain CMMS records of maintenance activities and inspections.
• Provide technical support and training to medical staff on equipment use.
