Job summary

M. J. Electric is seeking a skilled BIM/VDC Lead in the Midwest to bridge design intent and field execution. You will translate drawings and 3D models into standardized documents used by installation crews, coordinating with project teams from design review to field implementation.

The role requires deep BIM experience, strong NEC knowledge, and the ability to train foremen on coordinated drawings and mark‑ups. A degree in a related field and 7+ years of experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive experience in BIM/VDC coordination, electrical detailing, or field electrical leadership.
• Proficiency in Bluebeam Revu, Autodesk Revit, and Navisworks.
• Strong understanding of NEC code requirements and the project life cycle from design through field installation.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across design, engineering, and field teams.
• Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and QA/QC discipline.
• Familiarity with scripting or programming languages for BIM automation—Dynamo a plus.
• Advanced Excel skills for managing schedule and takeoff data.

Responsibilities

• Design-to-Field Coordination: review design documents and coordination models for constructability and NEC compliance.
• Modeling and Clash Resolution: manage 3D Revit models and perform clash analyses to minimize field rework.
• Mark-Up Standardization: develop standardized mark-up procedures and toolsets for shop drawings.
• Scheduling and Takeoff Support: export and manipulate data for estimating and prefabrication planning.
• Training and Support: educate foremen and field teams on BIM deliverables and mark-up standards.
• Technology Evaluation: stay current on BIM/VDC tools and suggest workflow improvements.
