Job summary

NC State University’s CVM Teaching Hospital is seeking a Billing Specialist to ensure accurate medical invoicing and to audit and rectify billing records. You will maintain monthly logs, support departments, and act as a backup for the hospital business office in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and one year of related office experience, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology.
• Prior auditing experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to interpret, explain, and enforce billing policies.

Responsibilities

• Compare clinical records against medical invoices to identify missed charges.
• Apply patient funding allocations and document remaining balances.
• Partner with departments to resolve billing discrepancies.
• Prepare and maintain the hospital's monthly service discharge logs.
• Serve as financial backup for the business office.
• Educate staff and students on billing policies and processes.
