Job summary

Abacus Solutions Group in Laurel, MD is seeking a Billing Specialist to prepare client invoices for engineering and professional services projects. You will review project details, apply contract terms, and maintain accurate billing records within Deltek Vantagepoint.

You will partner with project managers to gather billing information, resolve invoice questions, and ensure timely submission of cost-plus and other contract types, while meeting government deadlines.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of billing experience in A/E/C or professional services with cost-plus fixed fee invoices.
• Associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.
• Experience with cost-plus, time-and-materials, and government contracts preferred.
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems such as Deltek Vantagepoint.
• Strong understanding of project accounting principles and indirect cost structures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit invoices for engineering and professional services projects, mostly cost-plus fixed fee type.
• Review labor, expenses, project budgets, and contract terms to ensure accurate project set-up and billing.
• Work with project managers to gather billing information and resolve invoice-related questions.
• Compile, review, and validate supporting documentation for client invoicing, including large and complex invoices.
• Process invoices in accordance with client requirements, contracts, and submission procedures.
• Maintain accurate billing records, contract information, and invoice history in Deltek Vantagepoint.
• Prioritize daily billing activities to meet deadlines.
• Identify and resolve billing discrepancies to ensure timely submission.
• Prepare billing reports and support audits as needed.
