Job summary

Ray Thomas in partnership with a top-ranked law firm seeks a Legal Billing Specialist to join a growing team in Roseland, NJ. This hybrid role offers three days in-office and two days remote, with excellent benefits, 401(k) matching, and profit sharing within a collaborative, family-firm culture.

You will support approximately 15 attorneys, manage end-to-end billing, and maintain rate sets in Elite 3E while building strong relationships with attorneys and staff.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of law firm billing experience.
• Hands-on experience managing e-billing rejections, appeals, and collections.
• Strong Excel skills, attention to detail, and consistent follow-through.
• Ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with Elite 3E and eBillingHub.

Responsibilities

• Manage billing from prebill edits through invoice submission, including time entry changes, transfers, write-downs, and write-offs.
• Handle electronic billing setups, submissions, accruals, rejections, appeals, and collections.
• Resolve billing discrepancies, rate issues, and client inquiries.
• Update billing rates and establish rate sets in Elite 3E.
• Prepare billing reports and help meet monthly and annual billing goals.
• Build strong working relationships with attorneys, legal support staff, and accounting leadership.
• Document billing communications in iManage.

What You’ll Do

Join a team of six billing professionals, reporting to the Assistant Controller and supporting approximately 15 attorneys.
