Job summary

Primary Services is seeking a Billing Specialist in Evansville, IN to support accurate utility billing for millions of customers. You will review exceptions, resolve discrepancies, process adjustments, and handle inquiries with care.

This role requires 2+ years in billing or customer service, strong Excel skills, and experience with multiple systems. You’ll work with internal teams to ensure timely corrections and accurate records in a fast-paced utility environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in customer service, account support, billing, or financial operations.
• Experience researching discrepancies, resolving account issues, and correcting customer information.
• Experience using multiple business systems for account research, data entry, and transaction processing.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Experience documenting investigations, corrections, or customer interactions accurately.
• Experience communicating with customers and internal departments to resolve issues.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Electric or natural gas utility industry experience preferred.
• Banner CIS or SAP experience preferred.
• Associate's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review billing exceptions, identify discrepancies, and process corrections within billing systems.
• Investigate customer account issues and determine appropriate billing adjustments.
• Initiate, process, and track service orders per established procedures.
• Research tamper codes and investigate related billing or account discrepancies.
• Resolve billing inquiries involving account adjustments, exemptions, rate changes, and follow-ups.
• Review and update customer account information to maintain accurate billing records.
• Communicate findings, corrections, and resolutions to internal departments and customers.
• Navigate multiple systems to research histories, verify information, and process transactions.
• Document billing investigations, account changes, and customer interactions accurately.
• Coordinate with internal teams to resolve outstanding billing issues and ensure timely follow-up.
