Job summary

Washington University in St. Louis is seeking a detail-oriented professional to manage day-to-day billing operations, verify insurance, and counsel patients on financial assistance options.

The role includes supervising staff, process improvements, and liaising with clinical teams to ensure accurate charge posting and timely collections. The ideal candidate has strong registration experience, college-level education, and at least 5 years of relevant work history.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate degree or combination of education and experience may substitute for minimum education.
• Work Experience: 5 years in relevant role.
• Certifications/Professional Licenses: No specific certification required.
• Driver's License: Not required.

Responsibilities

• Communicates policies and educates staff on billing issues to promote efficient flow of billing process.
• Counsels financial and other issues regarding accounts management.
• Advises department managers on collection issues that arise.
• Identifies/posts missing charges
• Monitors and updates monthly collection totals in department.
• Advises affected areas on fees/posting updates/client billing.
• Participates in selection process of new employees, training, supervising and evaluating employees; informs employees of changes in the department.
• Assists with coverage in staff areas during illness/vacations
• Assists IBC team with special projects.
• Performs charge posting.
• Supports process improvement initiatives.
• Acts as a liaison with clinical lab staff
• Performs insurance verification and identifies non-contracted plans and insurance issues
• Applies comprehensive insurance knowledge in daily operations.
