Sheppard Pratt in Towson, MD is seeking a Billing and Collections Supervisor to oversee daily billing and AR activities within the Revenue Cycle, ensuring timely claims processing and accurate follow-up for behavioral health services.

In this hybrid role you will supervise a 5–10 person team, train staff, troubleshoot denials, and coordinate with payers to resolve issues, while upholding payer requirements and hospital policies.

Qualifications

• Degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field (or 3–5 years healthcare billing/revenue cycle experience).
• 1–2 years in a lead, senior, or supervisory capacity with staff guidance responsibilities.
• Working knowledge of medical billing, AR management, and third-party payer requirements.
• Behavioral health/mental health billing familiarity preferred.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide responsive customer service to leadership, departments, patients, families, and payers.
• Oversee day-to-day billing, follow-up, and collections across staff.
• Monitor claims submission, denials, aging, and ensure timely follow-up actions.
• Supervise 5–10 staff; train, coach, and manage workload and staffing.
• Resolve complex accounts; liaise with payers to fix billing issues.
• Ensure compliance with payer guidelines and hospital policies; update staff on changes.
• Track productivity and AR metrics; support reporting and data gathering.
• Identify workflow inefficiencies and suggest process improvements.
