Community Crisis Services is seeking a part-time Shelter Support Worker for the Warm Nights Shelter in Beltsville, MD. The role provides primary support and advocacy to shelter guests, handles intake, orientations, crisis response, and rule enforcement, and ensures a safe, respectful shelter environment.

The position requires flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays, and candidates must be able to complete onboarding requirements. A background check is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Six months of human services experience preferred, especially with homelessness or domestic violence survivors.
• Basic proficiency with MS Office, Windows, email, web browsing and phone systems.

Responsabilités

• Complete intake for all clients and provide referrals.
• Deliver shelter orientation within 24 hours of arrival.
• Provide crisis intervention and guidance as needed.
• Enforce shelter rules and mediate conflicts among residents.
• Foster a welcoming, hospitable environment.
• Maintain safety through CPI de-escalation and incident reporting.
• Conduct facility inspections and CCTV monitoring where available.
• Complete shift logs and maintain guest sign-in/out records.
• Stock food, clothing, and supplies; prepare space for next guest.
• Collaborate with staff and participate in CQI.
