Job summary

The Georgia Department of Public Health is seeking a Customer Service Representative 1 for the Spalding County Health Department in Griffin, GA. Under direct supervision, you will serve the public and internal customers, provide information, and manage appointment scheduling with a strong emphasis on confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA.

The role involves handling calls, updating records, supporting new programs, and adapting to policy changes in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with six months of related experience handling customers’ questions, complaints or providing information
• Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred and highly valued for public-facing roles
• Public Health experience is a plus and beneficial for program knowledge and service delivery
• Excellent customer service and oral communication skills are essential

Responsibilities

• Provides quality customer service to all customers
• Answers inbound calls in a timely manner
• Makes appointments; follows up with missed appointments by calling client to reschedule
• Follows communication scripts when scheduling the appropriate appointment
• Identifies customers’ needs, clarify information, provide solutions, refer programs/resources
• Handles all client inquiries
• Enters new client information into the system
• Updates existing client information
• Supports new program initiatives
• Abides by strict confidentiality requirements and HIPAA guidelines
• Active listener with strong phone and verbal communication skills
• Detail oriented; able to work efficiently and independently
• Self-starter in a fast paced work environment with multi-tasking and time management
• Organized and able to manage multiple duties simultaneously
• Assist with community-wide events
• Other administrative duties as assigned
