Job summary

CSL in Lafayette, Indiana is seeking a Pheresis Technician to support the donor program. You will prepare the donor, the donor area, and the equipment for the pheresis process, and you will ready the autopheresis machine for use.

You will monitor the donor and the pheresis process, respond to alarms, and disconnect the donor when complete. You will record incidents using a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA), link equipment to donors, and ensure accurate donor data in the electronic system.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of three (3) months’ work experience, preferably in medical or health provider environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be able to perform basic math calculations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the donor, donor area and equipment for the pheresis process.
• Prepare the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process.
• Monitor the donor and the pheresis process, respond to alarms or signals during the process.
• Disconnect the donor when the process is complete.
• Maintain awareness of donor reactions during or after pheresis and notify staff as needed.
• Record incidents using a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA), including machine alerts, alarms, and donor adverse events.
• Link equipment and supplies used in the pheresis process to the appropriate donor in the system.
• Alert Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues and maintain accurate donor data in the electronic donor information management system.
• Follow all HSE and OSHA policies and promote safety in all actions.
• Maintain confidentiality of personnel, donor and center information.
• May be cross-trained in other areas as needed.
