Lexington Health in West Columbia, SC is seeking a Spoken Language Interpreter to facilitate communication between LEP patients and staff. The interpreter will provide sight-translation and support patient education while adhering to professional codes.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma, 1 year of medical interpreting experience, and national certification at hire or within the first year, plus Bridging the Gap training.

Competenze

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year of medical interpreter experience required.
• Nationally certified or must obtain certification within the first year (CCHI).
• Bridging the Gap training/proficiency testing required on hire.

Mansioni

• Provide sight-translation of pertinent materials for patients and families.
• Serve as a cultural mediator to enhance staff-patient communication.
• Monitor language and interpreting skills; stay current with linguistic meanings and regional variances.
• Participate in continuing education opportunities to maintain certification.
• Monitor and respond to requests through ServiceHub.
• Be culturally sensitive and able to adapt to high-pressure scenarios.
• Able to travel to other Lexington Medical Center facilities.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
