Job summary

Lexington Health is seeking a Spoken Language Interpreter to facilitate communication between LEP patients and staff at Lexington Medical Center. The role requires accuracy, professionalism and respect for cultural and linguistic nuances in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Minimum education is a high school diploma with 1 year of medical interpreting experience. National certification through CCHI is required within the first year, and Bridging the Gap training must be completed upon hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a medical interpreter.
• National certification required at hire or within 1 year (CCHI).
• Bridging the Gap Medical Interpreter proficiency training required at hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate interpretation between LEP patients and staff in clinical settings.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow ethical guidelines and privacy standards.
• Assist with sight translation of patient materials as needed.
• Travel to other Lexington Health facilities as required.
• Participate in continuing education to maintain certification.
