Job summary

Qualifications

• Minimum education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of experience as a medical interpreter.
• Nationally certified through the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI) or must obtain certification within the first year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide sight-translation of pertinent materials.
• Serve as a cultural mediator to enhance communication between staff and patients or family members.
• Monitor language and interpreting skills, stay current with linguistic meanings and regional variances.
• Participate in Continuing Education opportunities to maintain certification.
• Monitor, accept, and respond to requests through ServiceHub.
• Be culturally sensitive and able to adapt to high pressure or emotionally intense scenarios.
• Able to travel to other LMC facilities.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
