Zusammenfassung

The Family Place seeks a Hotline Counselor to be the first point of contact for survivors of domestic violence, providing crisis support, risk assessment, and safety planning. You will handle hotline calls, intake assessments for new residents, and referrals, while maintaining confidential records and supporting staff training.

This role requires crisis intervention experience, compassion under pressure, and the ability to work as part of a dedicated team.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, criminal justice, or related field preferred.
• Minimum one year of experience in crisis intervention and/or domestic violence hotline required or equivalent.
• Bilingual English/Spanish may be required for some roles.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License with clear driving record.

Aufgaben

• Answer hotline calls from individuals seeking shelter, safety, or resources related to domestic violence.
• Establish rapport and assess immediate risk to determine caller’s safety needs.
• Provide empathetic support using active listening and compassionate communication.
• Assist callers in developing a personalized safety plan for immediate and long-term safety.
• Conduct intake assessments for new residents and provide emergency placement services.
• Provide referrals and safety planning when shelter isn’t available or appropriate.
• Maintain accurate client records and assist with data entry and reporting.
• Support training of new staff and volunteers who answer the hotline.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in ongoing professional development.
