Job summary

The Family Place in Dallas, TX is seeking a full-time Hotline Counselor to serve as the first point of contact for survivors of domestic violence. You will answer hotline calls, establish rapport, assess risk, and help callers develop immediate and long-term safety plans, while supporting shelter residents and collaborating with staff.

The role requires crisis intervention skills, calmness under pressure, and trauma-informed communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, criminal justice, or related field preferred.
• Minimum one year of crisis intervention or domestic violence hotline experience.
• Bilingual, English/Spanish, may be required for some roles.

Responsibilities

• Answer hotline calls to provide crisis support and safety planning.
• Conduct intake assessments for shelter residents and coordinate emergency placement.
• Maintain accurate client records and assist with staff training.
• Provide referrals and safety planning when shelter isn’t available.
